Podgorica, London, (MINA-BUSINESS) – For the third consecutive year, the National Tourism Organization (NTO) organized a promotion of Montenegro’s tourism products at the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival in London.
This unique event in the United Kingdom, hosted by the leading British travel media outlet, promotes a very special relationship between food and travel.
According to a press release issued by the NTO, the event offers visitors an opportunity to taste flavours from around the world, explore the local cuisine of participating countries, attend culinary masterclasses by renowned chefs showcasing specific cuisines, wine presentations, live cooking demonstrations, and interviews with acclaimed culinary authors.
NTO Director Ana Tripkovic Markovic said that intensified promotional activities by NTO in United Kingdom had resulted in increased visibility and a stronger reputation for the destination in this market, which was evident from awards and significant growth in the number tourist arrivals in both the previous and current year.
“Last year, we witnessed a five-fold increase in the number of arrivals from this market, which has continued into this year as well. By the end of May, around 23,000 tourists visited Montenegro, generating approximately 99,000 overnight stays. This is an 85 percent increase in the number of tourists and a 91 percent increase in overnight stays compared to the record-breaking year of 2019,” stated Tripkovic Markovic.
She added that, in addition to promotion, improved air accessibility and the fact that four airlines operated direct flights from UK cities such as London and Manchester, along with competitive prices, were key reasons for this success.
The Montenegro booth has again attracted a large number of visitors this year, who had the opportunity to taste Montenegrin wines and local specialties.
