Podgorica, (MINA) – Amendments to the Criminal Code, which classify assault on teachers as a criminal offense, will provide greater protection for teachers and create a safer working environment, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI) has announced.

This government department welcomed the activities of the Ministry of Justice, which, through the Draft Amendments to the Criminal Code, have recognized education as a profession of public importance. The Ministry added that this was done at their initiative. “Namely, professions of public importance, according to the Criminal Code, are those associated with a higher risk to the safety of individuals performing them, and by classifying the teaching profession in this category, additional protection will be provided for our teachers and as well as safer environment for their work”, the press release reads.
