Media Information Agency – MIA
Медиумска Информативна Агенциjа – МИА
MIA, a state-owned public enterprise, was founded by the government as the Macedonian Information Agency in early 1998. We started producing and distributing news in Macedonian and English on Sept. 30,1998. The Albanian language news service was introduced in May 1999. Our reports have been quoted by Reuters, Associated Press, AFP, Voice of America, Deutsche Welle, and many other regional news agencies that are part of the ABNA regional network of news agencies. In April 2006, MIA was redesigned as a joint-stock company and renamed Macedonian Information Agency AD. In March 2019, in line with the Prespa Agreement, the Macedonian Information Agency changed its name to Media Information Agency.
Media Information Agency (MIA) is North Macedonia’s most influential news source. With a newsroom of more than 70 reporters and correspondents reporting from the country and
abroad, MIA produces the largest and most varied output of news in the country. We distribute a combined total of 300-350 articles a day in Macedonian, Albanian, and English. Multimedia approach is MIA’s latest challenge. Our content is produced according to professional journalism standards, which also makes us the most trustworthy source for news about North Macedonia. Fact-checked, swift and accurate is MIA;s motto. Our clients include news organizations, embassies, public relations agencies, state institutions, and multinational companies. We offer our clients live streams of main events in the country and abroad as well as videos and photos all the while developing our video-service. MIA is the leader in the fight against unprofessional coverage and fake news. Our articles are reprinted or broadcast by local media outlets across the political spectrum. We are committed to being netral and unbiased by producing content that is topical, fact-checked, timely and accurate.
