League proposal to strip citizenship for serious crimes

A member of Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini’s League party on Wednesday presented a bill in the Lower House that would enable the authorities to strip people who have obtained Italian citizenship of it if they subsequently commit a serious crime.

These bill would also make people who have committed such serious felonies in the past, such as sexual violence, paedophilia and murder, ineligible to apply for Italian citizenship.
