Kosovo imposes new sanctions on Russia, also replaces the board of the Health Insurance Fund

The government of Kosovo has tightened sanctions against Russia and Belarus in relation to the situation in Ukraine. This decision was taken at today’s meeting of the Kosovar executive.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla stated that this decision is within the framework of the implementation of the 11th package of EU sanctions against Russia and Belarus.
According to her, these measures include strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with third countries to prevent the circumvention of sanctions, stopping the transit of goods and technology through Russia, tightening export restrictions, etc.
Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla said that the imposition of new sanctions against Russia proves Kosovo’s commitment to justice and peace in the world.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs proposes for review and approval the implementation of the 11th package of EU sanctions against the Russian Federation and Belarus, as well as the implementation of the EU decision. On June 23, 2023, the Council adopted new restrictive measures against Russia. The agreed package includes, among others, the following measures: Strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with third countries to prevent the circumvention of sanctions, stopping the transit of goods and technology through Russia, the tightening of export restrictions and also imposing additional sanctions on 71 individuals and 33 entities, also deciding to add the Wagner and Riafan group to the list of those subject to EU restrictive measures for actions that violate or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine… Kosovo remains steadfast in the arms of its partners to the USA, the United Kingdom and the EU, today’s approval of the package is a powerful proof of Kosovo’s commitment to justice and peace not only in the region, but throughout the world”, said Gërvalla.
