Podgorica, (MINA) – The success Montenegro has achieved in the fight against crime and corruption, border management and migration is already contributing to making the European Union (EU) safer, said the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos.
Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Becic and Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Saranovic spoke with Kos on Thursday, during their visit to Brussels.
According to the Government’s press release, Kos said that Montenegro has made great progress on its way to the EU.
“You have my full support for your aspiration to close all negotiating chapters by 2026”, Kos said.
She pointed out that there is still work to be done, in areas such as visa policy.
Becic thanked Kos for the optimistic messages and support in the achievements so far and plans for further dynamizing the European path.
“We are glad that the annual EU Report recognized the excellent results in the fight against organized crime and corruption”, said Becic.
As he stated, the exceptional cooperation that the security sector and the prosecutor’s office have with Europol contributes significantly to this.
Saranovic emphasized the successes in the field of strategic planning where, as he said, Montenegro achieved maximum results.
