Five of 10 Tel Aviv bound flights diverted to Larnaca airport already left, CNA learns

Five of the 10 flights from European countries bound for Tel Aviv which, due to Iran’s ballistic missile attack against Israel on Tuesday evening were diverted to Cyprus, departed from Larnaca airport on Wednesday.

According to information CNA obtained from Hermes Airports, the company running Cyprus’ two international airports, five of 10 flights from European countries bound for Israel that were diverted last night at Larnaca airport, have departed.

Passengers on three flights were transferred to hotels for the night, which was arranged by the airlines, and were expected to depart later today.

Other two flights remained at Larnaca airport either because the crews exceeded their working hours or because they were waiting to see when and if they would continue their route to Tel Aviv.

It is noted that on Wednesday 10 flight arrivals from Tel Aviv were scheduled at Larnaca airport and nine departures to Israel, mainly from Israeli airlines, which seem they are aiming to carry out as many flights as possible.

Paphos airport has not been affected in any way from Tuesday evening’s attacks by Iran against Israel, according to information from Hermes.

The same sources told CNA that flights from Paphos airport to Israel – operated by Israeli air carriers – were running without any problem, noting that no flights from European countries en route to Tel Aviv, were diverted to Paphos airport, after Iran’s missile attack against Israel.
