Japanese tea ceremony brings tradition and philosophy to Tirana

TIRANA, Oct. 15 /ATA/ – A traditional Japanese tea ceremony brought an authentic taste of Japanese culture to Tirana as part of Japanese Cultural Week, which began on Wednesday and runs through Oct. 18.

Led by Japanese tea masters, the demonstrations offered participants an opportunity to experience a centuries-old tradition combining aesthetics, philosophy, concentration and harmony.

The event explored the rituals and symbolism behind the preparation and serving of tea, highlighting the practice’s place in Japan’s cultural heritage. Tea tasting completed the experience, allowing attendees to engage directly with one of Japan’s most distinctive cultural traditions.

Strong public interest reflected growing curiosity about Japanese customs and a desire to learn more about the country’s culture.

Beyond the ritual itself, the ceremony conveyed the philosophy of slowing down, being present in the moment and appreciating life’s simple pleasures, bringing together cultural heritage, art and spiritual calm in the Albanian capital.
