ZAGREB, 2 Oct (Hina) – Croatia’s corn production in 2024 is projected to reach 1.6 million tons, a decrease of 17.3 per cent compared to 2023, according to the preliminary estimates of key late crops as of 1 September, released by the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
According to DZS data, the expected average yield of corn per hectare is 6.1 tons, lower than the 7.4 tons per hectare recorded in the previous year.
A decline in production is also estimated for sugar beet, down by 12 percent to 440,000 tons. The expected yield per hectare is 44 tons, compared to 62.4 tons per hectare in 2023.
Sunflower production is estimated to decrease by 1.9 percent, with an expected total of 155,000 tons. The projected yield per hectare is 2.5 tons, compared to 2.6 tons in 2023.
In contrast, soybean production is expected to increase by 12.7 percent, reaching 240,000 tons. The yield per hectare is projected to be 2.5 tons, slightly down from 2.8 tons in the previous year.
