Air Force firefighting planes have helped put out 25 wildfires since 11 June

ZAGREB, 22 July (Hina) – The Ministry of Defence said on Monday that the Croatian Air Force had participated in the extinguishing of 25 wildfires that broke out between 11 June and 22 July, mostly in Split-Dalmatia County.

Air Force firefighting planes helped put out 13 wildfires in Split-Dalmatia County, six in Zadar County, three in Šibenik-Knin County and one each in Istria, Lika-Senj and Dubrovnik-Neretva Counties.

They carried out 1,009 flights, dropping 4,633 tonnes of water, transporting 17 tonnes of cargo and using 1,321 litres of foam and 85,746 litres of fuel.

A Canadair CL-415 firefighting plane was sent to North Macedonia to provide humanitarian assistance in putting out wildfires between 16 and 21 July.

This year, the Croatian Air Force received 57 requests from the Fire Service for the use of aircraft in firefighting efforts, during which 1,284 flights were carried out, 6,061 tonnes of water were dropped, 17 tonnes of cargo were transported, and 1,321 litres of foam and 101,494 litres of fuel were used, the Ministry of Defence said in a press release.
