The health ministry said Wednesday that the tests done so far on people under observation in Italy for Hantavirus have been negative.
In total six people are under observation in relation to the deadly virus here.
Four people were passengers on the KLM flight from Johannesburg to the Netherlands that briefly had aboard a woman who later died of Hantavirus.
Another is a British tourist who has been put into quarantine in hospital in Milan after it emerged that he was on the flight that the same woman, the wife of the first victim of the Hantavirus outbreak, took from St.Helena to South Africa after disembarking from the cruise ship that was stricken by the virus.
The ministry said tests done on him and his travel partner were negative.
It said tests run by Rome’s Spallanzani infectious-diseases hospital on samples from an Argentine woman taken into hospital in Messina with pneumonia who comes from an area of Argentina where Hantavirus is endemic were negative too.
The ministry added that tests analysed by the Spallanzani on a 25-year-old sailor who was on the KLM flight and is in quarantine d Villa San Giovanni, near Reggio Calabria, were also negative.
On Tuesday Mara Campitiello, the health ministry’s prevention director, said tests on a South African doctor who is in Veneto and was on the KLM flight too were also negative.
The other two people in Italy who were on the KLM flight are a woman in the Florence area and a 24-year-old sailor who has been put under mandatory quarantine in Torre del Greco, near Naples.
