Podgorica, (MINA) – The Government of Montenegro is firmly committed to protecting the universal value of the natural and cultural-historical area of Kotor, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic said.
According to the Government’s press release, Spajic said at a meeting with newly elected Director General of UNESCO, Khaled El-Enany, that Montenegro will protect Kotor’s status on the world heritage list at all costs.
Spajic reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to protecting the universal values of the natural and cultural-historical area of Kotor.
“Today I am here to convey a very clear message that we will do everything to preserve Kotor’s UNESCO status. We are determined to fulfill the Committee’s recommendations within the given deadline in order to preserve the universal value of the listed properties”, said Spajic.
El-Enany welcomed the results of the National Commission and said that the fact that it is chaired by the Prime Minister for the first time sends a strong message about the political will to find a permanent and sustainable solution to this issue.
“We are already seeing results and we are ready to support you at the expert level to the maximum extent so that by February you will have a report and outcomes that we can all be proud of”, El-Enany said.
