Pope says humanity hungry for peace, gestures of forgiveness needed

Pope Leo XIV said in Cameroon Friday that humanity is hungry for peace, and gestures of forgiveness are needed.

There is a humanity hungry for peace, the pope reiterated in his homily at Mass in the southwestern port city of Douala, emphasizing that the Gospel (the passage of the multiplication of the loaves) shows “not only how God nourishes humanity with the bread of life, but how we can bring this food to all men and women who hunger for peace, freedom, and justice like us.

“Every gesture of solidarity and forgiveness, every good initiative is a morsel of bread for humanity in need of care,” Leo XIV emphasized.

Leo has been in Algeria as well as Cameroon as he continues a 10-day visit to Africa that will also take in Angola and Equatorial Guinea
