Passenger traffic in April exceeds one million for the first time, Ministry says

Passenger traffic in April 2025 exceeded for the first time the one million milestone, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works stressed on Tuesday, adding that the percentage increase, compared to the corresponding period in 2024, amounts to 20.66%.

The Ministry of Transport noted that Larnaka and Paphos airports welcomed 1,157,414 passengers during April 2025, recording an increase of 20.66% compared to the corresponding period in 2024. It added that for the January – April period the highest passenger traffic has been recorded with an increase of 11.83% compared to 2024.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the volume of passengers at Larnaka airport increased by 23.05%, and at Paphos airport by 15.51% compared to 2024.

The main markets, it continued, are the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland and Germany.  Aircraft traffic increased by 12.68% compared to 2024 and reached 8,756 flights, the Ministry notes.

The largest increase in absolute numbers was recorded at Larnaka Airport on routes with Israel, the United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Armenia. Paphos Airport saw an increase as regards routes with Israel, the United Kingdom, Jordan, Poland and Germany.

On the other hand, the largest decrease was at Larnaka Airport from Finland, Belgium, Jordan, Lithuania and Estonia, while at Paphos Airport there was a decrease from France, Estonia, Slovakia, Greece and Romania.

The Ministry expressed satisfaction with the results and thanked all involved for their collective effort to extend the tourist season.
