ZAGREB, 3 May (Hina) – More than 100 flower growers and 28 international exhibitors will take part in the 59th International Garden Exhibition Floraart in Bundek Park in Zagreb from 8 to 11 May, featuring workshops, floral installations and a professional conference, the City of Zagreb announced on Saturday.
“Floraart is the most important horticultural event in this part of Europe and a major draw for visitors, both from Zagreb and beyond, including guests and tourists. At the same time, Floraart supports the production and sale of flowers in Croatia and internationally, as shown by the large number of domestic and foreign participants,” Mayor Tomislav Tomašević said, inviting citizens to visit the exhibition in the coming week.
Admission is free.
According to the City, over the course of the four-day event, 28 domestic and international exhibitors will present floral installations arranged throughout the park and within the exhibition dome, showcasing the latest trends in gardening, landscaping and floral design.
The Bundek venue will also host a market selling plants, flower seedlings and other horticultural products, with more than 100 flower growers and producers taking part.
On the opening day of Floraart, 8 May, the traditional Croatian Florists’ Cup will take place, alongside a flower arranging competition for secondary school students. From Friday to Sunday, the public will be able to take part in around ten free workshops, and for the youngest visitors, there will be children’s performances by Poco Loco Theatre as well as free workshops.
A professional conference will be held on Friday on the role of green infrastructure and natural heritage in preserving Croatian identity and shaping a sustainable future, featuring discussions on horticulture, forestry and sustainability.
At the end of April, workers of the municipal company Zrinjevac began planting over 70,000 new flower seedlings to decorate a total of 1,800 square metres of the park.
“Zrinjevac, which is responsible for maintaining public green spaces, produces about 350,000 seasonal flower seedlings annually, which then decorate the city during the warmer months. Our landscape architects put great care into designing the flower beds that brighten up Bundek each year,” said Božena Cvitanović, head of Zrinjevac.
