Nicosia conveys at every opportunity that there will be no deviation from the agreed framework for the solution of the Cyprus problem, as determined by the UN resolutions, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis, has said, in view of the expanded Cyprus meeting in Geneva.
Speaking to journalists after the National Council meeting on Friday, Letymbiotis noted that the proposals submitted by the President of the Republic are before the United Nations, and their aim is a positive outcome of the expanded meeting in Geneva.
The Spokesman said that the primary objective of this expanded meeting is to serve as a beginning for the resumption of negotiations from the point where they were interrupted in Crans Montana in 2017.
“What we are conveying with our positions, in our meetings, is that there will be no departure from the agreed framework, as clearly defined in all relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” he stressed.
He assured that the same commitment is demonstrated by the United Nations itself and the UN Secretary-General himself, whose mandate derives from the Security Council.
