Montenegro and France sign defense cooperation agreement

Podgorica, (MINA) – Ministers of defense of Montenegro and France, Dragan Krapovic and Sebastien Lecornu signed in Paris on Thursday the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of defense.

The Montenegrin Defense Ministry stated that the interlocutors discussed the modalities of further defense cooperation between the two countries, global security situation and the importance of European integration of the Western Balkan for the European stability.

According to the press release, Krapovic thanked for continuous support that France has been providing for Montenegro in achieving its foreign policy goals, primarily European integration.

The Defense Ministry stated that Krapovic informed Lecornu about the priorities of this department, regarding meeting the requirements that arise from the NATO membership and active contribution to international peace and stability.

Lecornu reiterated that the Western Balkan countries are in the sphere of French political interest, to which the French Strategy for the Western Balkans testifies, adding that France will continue supporting Montenegro on its European path.
