Monstat: Inflation rate at four percent in December

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Compared with corresponding period in 2024, the prices of products and services for personal consumption, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), were four percent higher on average in December.

According to Monstat, the consumer prices saw an average decrease of 0.3 percent compared with November.

“The negative inflation rate at the monthly level was affected primarily by a decrease in prices of fish and seafood, meat, fuel and lubricants for motor vehicles, and fruit,” Monstat stated in a press release.

Compared with corresponding period in 2024, consumer prices were 3.9 percent higher on average between January and December.

Across the main groups, the monthly increase in prices was recorded for healthcare, other products and services, clothing and footwear, water, electricity and other fuel, recreation and culture, restaurants and hotels.

In this period, the prices decreased in the category of food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, transport, furnishings and routine maintenance of the house.

Prices of other products and services have not changed considerably.
