President Zoran Milanovic confirmed on Wednesday he would run for re-election and said he expected the support of the Social Democratic Party, which he needs, among other things, to prevent electoral fraud.

“Here and now. I expect the support of the SDP. I will need it for various reasons, including organisational ones, to prevent fraud. You asked me, so I’m telling you, here and now, without too many whys,” he said in response to a journalist’s question about when he would confirm his candidacy for re-election.

Milanovic said he had the most knowledge and experience of all possible candidates, “but of course, that is never decisive.”

“It doesn’t have to be now either, but those are my assets,” he added.
