ZAGREB, 2 April (Hina) – Croatia saw higher production of tomatoes and several vegetables in 2025, while output of apples, plums, carrots, beans and onions declined, according to provisional data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
Tomato production rose the most, increasing by 28,451 tonnes or 60.9% year-on-year to 75,135 tonnes.
Output of cabbage (white and red) grew by 9,708 tonnes (34.7%) to 37,663 tonnes, peppers by 2,717 tonnes (20.6%) to 15,931 tonnes, and beetroot by 1,646 tonnes (48.6%) to 5,036 tonnes.
Lettuce production increased by 825 tonnes (11.3%) to 8,131 tonnes, cauliflower and broccoli by 415 tonnes (16.7%) to 2,898 tonnes, and leeks by 174 tonnes (9.8%) to 1,943 tonnes.
Production also rose for mandarins, up 15,976 tonnes (52.1%) to 46,651 tonnes, strawberries by 211 tonnes (10.1%) to 2,299 tonnes, and grapes by 23,237 tonnes (23.6%) to 121,499 tonnes.
Olive production, however, fell by 38% to 33,732 tonnes.
Apple production dropped by 8,745 tonnes or 12.6% to 60,832 tonnes.
Declines were also recorded for plums, down 4,825 tonnes (42.1%) to 6,626 tonnes; sour cherries, down 3,837 tonnes (55.8%) to 3,035 tonnes; peaches and nectarines, down 975 tonnes (28%) to 2,509 tonnes; and pears, down 826 tonnes (30.3%) to 1,901 tonnes.
Hazelnut production fell by 810 tonnes (24.2%) to 2,538 tonnes, cherries by 488 tonnes (32.8%)В to 1,001 tonnes, apricots by 394 tonnes (44.8%) to 486 tonnes, while figs and walnuts also declined, by 255 tonnes and 145 tonnes respectively.
Among vegetables, production dropped sharply for peas (fresh grain and pods), down 4,065 tonnes (76.7%) to 1,233 tonnes, carrots by 1,831 tonnes (13.6%) to 11,616 tonnes, watermelons by 1,528 tonnes (5.2%) to 27,812 tonnes, melons by 1,503 tonnes (33.6%) to 2,970 tonnes, and onions and garlic by 541 tonnes (2.6%) to 20,016 tonnes.
Bean production (fresh grain and pods) fell by 710 tonnes (26.5%) to 1,969 tonnes, and cucumbers and gherkins by 531 tonnes (6.6%) to 7,533 tonnes.
