There has been an ever-increasing number of local and foreign visitors to the numerous castles throughout Albania with their history and architecture.
Minister of Culture Elva Margariti shared today in social media the figures of visitors registered in the January-July period in the castles of the country.
“The castles continue to be the most visited spots by the tourists. This year, the number of visitors is much higher than in the previous years. Thus, in the January-July period, 111,573 local and foreign visitors visited the castles,” Margariti emphasized.
Margariti also made a comparison with the previous years showing a significant increase of visitors to the historical castles during the same period in recent years.
“In January-July 2022, there were 63,731 visitors, in 2021 there were 69,674 visitors and in 2020 there were 24,015 local and foreign visitors,” said Margariti.
Albania has several castles such as: Gjirokastra castle, Lëkurës castle in Saranda, Kruja castle, Berat castle, Petrela castle, Ali Pasha castle in Tepelena, Rozafa castle in Shkodra etc.
