Ministry of Agriculture bans import of pigs from 12 countries over concerns of African swine fever
TIRANA, January 19 /ATA/ The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development banned the import of live pigs and their products from 12 countries due to the African swine fever epidemic.
By order of January 9, 2024, published today in the Official Gazette, the Ministry of Agriculture has banned the import of pigs from North Macedonia, namely for pigs that are imported from some of the administrative divisions of this state defined in this order.
Whereas for the pigs that will be allowed to be imported, a veterinary health certificate is required.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture has also banned the import of pigs from Slovakia, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine and Croatia. Even for these countries, the import ban has been determined according to the administrative divisions after notifications received from the official website of OIE and ADIS.
Earlier, the Ministry of Agriculture has also banned the import of poultry from Croatia, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Italy, Bulgaria, Hungary and Germany due to avian flu
