Laboratory of international ISO accreditation, Koçiu: We guarantee quality of medicines in Albanian market

TIRANA, February 12 /ATA/ General Directorate of Accreditation has already issued accreditation to the Laboratory at the National Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices. It also received the ISO certificate as the only drug testing laboratory accredited in Albania, according to these standards.

During the visit to the laboratory premises and the inspection of the examining entities, Minister of Health and Social Protection Albana Koçiu focused on the significance of drug control and the benefits that derive from this accreditation.

“It has been an extensive and long process of work and efforts to get here, to reach the standards and of course to guarantee the quality of drugs that enter the Albanian market and are used by the population”, said Koçiu.

The Drug Control Laboratory is the only relevant drug quality control structure in Albania and its provision with this international accreditation sets a missing standard, thus guaranteeing reliable, accurate and transparent laboratory results. Following, the international accreditation, it is expected that by 2025 the number of analyses will double and their range will expand by performing analyses for drug categories that have never been performed before and all other categories of pharmaceutical products, applying the procedures of the European Pharmacopoeia.
