Dendias: The creation of an anti-aircraft and anti-drone canopy is within our planning and our long-term programme
“The creation of an anti-aircraft and anti-drone canopy is within our planning and our long-term programme”, Defence Minister Nikos Dendias said in an interview with SKAI TV on Wednesday.
He clarified that this was “already underway” and added that “the country had to acquire an anti-aircraft canopy. That is, a total coverage system and also an anti-drone canopy.”
Greece, he said should be able to shield itself and this is feasible. Greece is not an aggressive power, it does not claim something from anyone, what it is planning is to defend the territory and this is totally feasible.
On Turkey, Dendias underlined that “it should understand that Greece has specific rights in the Aegean Sea that are based on the Law of the Sea and on the International Law”.
Referring to the Middle East he said that “we hope there will be a de-escalation” adding that it is “the firm position of all countries that are friendly towards Israel and have clearly condemned the Iranian attack against it, that do not wish for the spreading of this war”.
Regarding the situation in the Red Sea, he pointed out that “there are already major consequences in the economy, from maritime transport which has been seriously disrupted”
