Four helicopters of the Royal Jordanian Air Force, which took part in the
extinguishing of the fires in Greece, were hosted on Sunday, July 30, in
Cyprus, which served as a stopover for refuelling and a short rest for their
crews, a statement by the General Staff of the National Guard said on
Tuesday.
As noted, Jordanian crews had taken part along with the airborne
firefighting forces of the Republic of Cyprus in the Forestry Department’s
“Pyrsos 2023” exercise, which took place in Cyprus in May 2023, and were
hosted at the Andreas Papandreou Air Base in Paphos.
The presence of the Royal Jordanian Air Force helicopters in Cyprus is proof
of the status of the country as a key supply and service hub in the Eastern
Mediterranean region, the statement concluded.
