Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) announced that losses in the electricity distribution network fell to 6.82 percent in September, the lowest level ever recorded.
“Losses have been reduced to an all-time-low of 6.82 percent, which is 0.41 percentage points lower than in September last year, when losses stood at 7.23 percent, and 1.12 percentage points lower than in the same period of 2024, when they amounted to 7.95 percent,” CEDIS said in a press release.
The downward trend in losses continued despite an increase in the amount of electricity received by the distribution system.
In September, this totalled 261.89 million kilowatt-hours (kWh), which was 30.64 million kWh more than in September last year and 35.94 million kWh more than in September 2024.
“During the first nine months of this year, the electricity received amounted to 2.57 billion kWh, while losses were reduced to 9.61 percent, compared with 9.73 percent in the first nine months of last year, when the electricity received totalled 2.42 billion kWh,” CEDIS said.
Comparing the results achieved between January and September with the level of losses recorded during the same period last year, the savings amounted to approximately 3,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity, with a market value of around €400,000 during this period.
