ZAGREB, 2 May (Hina) – At the end of March, household deposits amounted to €37bn, with a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, of which overnight deposits accounted for €26.3bn, and household time deposits for €10.7bn, with the latter growing by 20.4% over the year, the Croatian National Bank (HNB) said on Thursday.
According to the statistical report on deposits and loans of credit institutions, at the end of the third month of this year, the total deposits of domestic sectors amounted to €59.8 billion, which is an increase of €3.6 billion or 6.3% compared to the end of the first quarter of 2023. In addition to households, deposits of non-financial corporations reached €15.7 billion, and those of the general government reached €5.4 billion.
At the end of March 2024, overnight deposits of domestic sectors amounted to €41.4В billion, with €26.3 billion attributed to households, €11.1 billion to non-financial corporations, and €3.4 billion to the general government.
On an annual basis, total overnight deposits slowed down their decline from 4.6% at the end of December 2023 to -3.5% at the end of March 2024.
At the end of the third month of this year, time deposits of domestic sectors amounted to €18.4 billion, with time deposits of households amounting to €10.7 billion and those of non-financial corporations reaching €4.6 billion.
On an annual basis, total time deposits slightly slowed down their growth from 37.8% at the end of December 2023 to 37.7% at the end of March 2024. Meanwhile, the growth rate of time deposits of non-financial corporations decelerated from 183.9% annually at the end of December 2023 to 77% annually at the end of March 2024. At the same time, the annual growth rate of time deposits of households accelerated from 9.3%В at the end of December 2023 to 20.4% at the end of March 2024.
Household loans amount to €22.3bn
At the end of March of this year, loans to domestic sectors amounted to €43.6 billion, representing an increase of €0.5 billion or 1.2% compared to the end of the fourth quarter of 2023, and an increase of two billion euros or 4.8% compared to the end of the first quarter of 2023. On an annual basis, the growth of total loans to domestic sectors slowed down from six percent at the end of December 2023 to 4.8% at the end of March 2024.
