Dozens to compete in Constanta kitesurfing competition

Dozens of kitesurfers from Romania and abroad are running, September 25 and 26, in a competition organised in Constanta, under extreme circumstances of wind and waves, according to the local administration.

According to Constanta City Hall, “the sea is even more beautiful when coloured by kitesurfers’ kites.”

“Wego Kitesurfing is organising a competition on September 25-26 at Zoom Beach for kitesurfers from all over the country, where also competing will be some of the most famous kiters from around the world: Baptiste Bourdoulous of Greece and Ruben Lenten of the Netherlands. The competition entails surfing under extreme circumstances  of  wind and big waves, through jumps and complex tricks in the air,” according to the city hall.

The prize pool is EUR 10,000 to be shared by the best three male and female kiters. Surprise prizes will be awarded to  the youngest participant and the most spectacular fall.

“The Black Sea offers an invaluable natural setting for the development of water sports, and Constanta, with its unique position by the sea, enthusiastically embraces and promotes such activities.”

Now in its third edition, the Big Air Kite Contest of jumps and tricks draws in dozens of Romanian and foreign contesters who will be scored by a jury as follows: 70% for height, 30%  for trick & style.
