Direct air route between Montenegro and Bulgaria creates new tourism opportunities

Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – Tourism ministers of Montenegro and Bulgaria, Simonida Kordic and Ilin Dimitrov, agreed that a direct air route connecting the two countries would create new opportunities for tourism cooperation.

Kordic met with Dimitrov to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation, establishing a direct air connection, and implementing joint projects in tourism, education and the promotion of tourist destinations.

“During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Europe-Asia Interregional Forum, it was noted that Montenegro and Bulgaria have significant scope to intensify cooperation, particularly by strengthening links between their tourism markets, exchanging experience and increasing the involvement of the tourism industries in both countries,” Ministry of Tourism said in a press release.

Kordic said that establishing a direct air link between Montenegro and Bulgaria was one of the priorities, given its importance for increasing tourist traffic, improving access to destinations and creating conditions for the development of new forms of cooperation.

The two officials also discussed opportunities for student exchanges and the organisation of joint professional and promotional events that would facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience in the tourism sector.

Dimitrov expressed his willingness to support joint initiatives, highlighting the importance of regional connectivity and coordinated action by Balkan countries amid dynamic changes in the tourism market.
