Croatia offers assistance to BiH after disastrous floods

ZAGREB, 4 Oct (Hina) – Croatia has offered assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina which has been hit by disastrous flash flooding that has claimed the lives of at least 15 people, the government said on Friday.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković had contacted his BiH counterpart Borjana Krišto, extending his condolences and offering help in removing the consequences of the natural disaster.

The Croatian government will respond promptly and provide all the necessary support as soon as BiH authorities define the needs and send a formal request, the government said in a statement.

Croatia stands ready to provide assistance through civil protection, firefighting units, police and military forces and through the Red Cross Croatia, depending on the form of assistance requested by BiH.

All Croatian emergency services and competent institutions have been in touch with their partners in BiH and are carefully following the situation, with Croatia’s Ambassador to Sarajevo, Ivan Sabolić, visiting the flood-hit parts of central Bosnia.

The Croatian government sympathises deeply with all the families affected by this tragedy and, as always, is ready to demonstrate solidarity and provide help to the neighbouring and friendly country in these difficult moments, the government said.
