Wizz Air cancels Skopje-Budapest flight

Skopje, 20 February 2025 (MIA) – The low-cost airline Wizz Air is cancelling the Skopje-Budapest flight as of March 9, the company has told MIA.

The company has confirmed the decision and says they are continually monitoring the performances of their routes in order to ensure the lowest possible prices for the most popular destinations.

“It is a regular practice for Wizz Air to optimize its routes based on the performances. Wizz Air is continuing to improve its services and explore new growth opportunities in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. All affected passengers are informed about the changes and have been offered alternative flight options, as well as full refund in the form of payment or Wizz credit,” the company said.

The Ministry of Transport told MIA that the Skopje-Budapest flight was never financially supported through subsidies.

“The ministry’s policy is to develop airline traffic and this goes in line with our concept that has resulted in ten new flights in only six months. We expect to further develop this sector, ensure quality services and promote Macedonia as an attractive destination for tourists,” the Ministry of Transport said. As of June 30, Wizz Air will launch flights from Skopje to Lyon, Barcelona and Stuttgart after receiving government subsidies
