What does the military alliance agreement between Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia mean?

Kosovo, Albania, and Croatia have signed a Trilateral Declaration for a military alliance. This agreement is said to aim at strengthening the defense capabilities of the three countries, increasing cooperation in the defense industry, improving military interoperability through education, training, and joint exercises, as well as enhancing military interaction in the region, reports KosovaPress.

The signing of this memorandum took place in Albania, where the Albanian Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, with high military honors, welcomed his counterparts from Kosovo, Ejup Maqedonci, and Croatia, Ivan Anushiq.

Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, said the aim of the cooperation is not a threat to anyone, but a message to those who seek to threaten the region.

“The aim of this cooperation is not to threaten anyone, but it is a message to those who aim to threaten the security, peace, and stability of the Western Balkans region, as well as the security of our countries. Our three countries, which share common values and interests, are united to face any threat and danger that aims to destabilize the region,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Albanian Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, said that the signing of this agreement is an important step for strengthening security and stability in the region, as well as for developing capacities to address common risks and challenges, writes KosovaPress.

“The Declaration translates not only a political will but also several priorities that we share together. Mainly, it is about the importance our countries give to the revival of the military industry, and the need for our countries to cooperate more deeply and widely in this pillar of national security. The second point concerns the cooperation our armed forces will engage in, whether in training or in capacities,” he said.

The Croatian Minister of Defense, Ivan Anushiq, said that this strategic development reflects the close alliance between the three nations, bound by history, sacrifices for freedom, and a shared vision for a secure future, KosovaPress reports.

“This cooperation will be particularly focused on providing assistance in the development of the defense industry, and the fulfillment of all the agreements we have signed so far. Now, we want to strengthen these and share the experience of our country, Croatia, as a member of NATO and the EU,” emphasized Anushiq.
