Nazare (NBR): Romania remains a fantastic investment destination, foreign direct investment shows it

Bucharest, March 18 /Agerpres/ – Romania remains a fantastic investment destination, which is shown by the balance of foreign direct investment, said on Tuesday Alexandru Nazare, chairman of the PanEuropa Romania Pan-European International Union and member on the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

‘Maybe we shouldn’t look so much at the economy as a secondary problem. And I’m talking about Romania now. When we start putting the economy first, things will start to look different. Romania remains a fantastic investment destination, absolutely fantastic. It is a to-notch destination and I am not saying it because I am a representative of Romania. Figures say that. What figures? Those related to foreign direct investment. If we look at the FDI balance of EUR 118 billion at present, 71% of this balance is made up of reinvested capital and profits. If we look at FDI in 2023, we have EUR 4.9 billion reinvested profits from EUR 6.9 billion in that year. What do these figures tell us? The fact that the investors who have made the decision to invest in Romania are very happy. They reinvest,’ Nazare told the fifth edition of the Economist Romanian Business & Investment Roundtable on increasing competitiveness, as the key to a future-ready Romania.

He also said that we should change our attitude towards forecasts and stop making forecasts in an optimistic manner, because forecasts show higher economic growth than they are and that does not help.

Nazare added that Romania has the foundations to grow economically.
