According to Montenegro’s Chief Negotiator with the European Union (EU) Predrag Zenovic, the Berlin Process is important because it has maintained the focus of the Western Balkan countries on the EU agenda, allowing them to prepare for all the processes they will encounter after the accession.
“I believe that everything we have seen in the last ten years in the field of economic and social integration is largely connected to the Berlin Process. It is an overarching concept for a number of initiatives. The Berlin Process may not have the best PR in the business world, but it has paved the way for political communication among the leaders of all Western Balkan countries, thereby making a significant contribution to further integration,” Zenovic said at the Economic Conference organized by the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) in Budva.
In a one-on-one discussion about European prospects for the Western Balkans with Anja Quiring, the regional director of the German Eastern Business Association, he stated that the Berlin Process had allowed countries to prepare for all the processes they would face in the EU.
“If they have not demonstrated readiness for shared responsibility, cooperation, and joint confrontation with global challenges within this framework, they will not be able to do so even in a larger group of 27 member states,” said Zenovic.
According to a press release issued by the PKCG, he stated that the European future of all Western Balkan countries was clear, and they all wanted to live together in peace.
