Plenkovic meets with Antonio Costa, future European Council President

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic met in Zagreb on Wednesday evening with the future President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, the PM announced on his X account.

Plenkovic said that Croatia will continue to contribute to the creation of solutions to key European challenges and use the advantages of EU membership for faster economic development.

Antonio Costa served as the Prime Minister of Portugal for three terms. A member of the Socialist Party, he will succeed Charles Michel as President of the European Council in December.

The election of the President of the European Council falls within the exclusive competence of the leaders of the member states.
