Ukraine’s sovereignty must be fully respected, President Nikos Christodoulides said on Monday, adding that no one can impose any solution.

The President was asked to comment on the plans drafted for a solution to the Ukrainian crisis and how these plans affect the Cyprus issue.

President Christodoulides told the press that he is glad to see that following yesterday’s meeting in Geneva between the delegations of the United States and Ukraine, “it is clear that Ukraine’s sovereignty must be fully respected.”

He said that a videoconference was held for the issue at EU level and expressed his hope that in cooperation with both Ukraine and the United States a solution will be reached which will be primarily accepted by Kiev.

He noted that “no one can impose any solution”.
