According to the Training, Information and Trade Union Research Centre (CEISI), the trade union consumer basket for the fourth quarter of this year amounts to €1,970, which is 1.5 percent less than in the previous quarter and 6.49 percent more at the annual level.
Compared to the third quarter of 2023, the trade union consumer basket decreased by €30 in the last year’s fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter of 2023, the Standard Consumer Basket (SCB) amounted to €1,850, which means it increased by €120 or 6.49 percent annually.
“Differences were recorded in as many as seven categories of expenses, including the costs of food products, imputed rent, household maintenance, housing and utilities, personal hygiene and healthcare products, education and culture, as well as vacations,” stated a press release issued by CEISI.
The Centre explained that this is the fifth SCB for a four-member household, covering October, November, and December.
According to the methodology, the SCB comprises ten categories of expenses, three of which saw changes in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter.
