Three Cypriot teams qualify to the next round of UEFA competitions

Three qualifications and one elimination is the outcome of Cypriot teams taking part in UEFA European competitions so far. APOEL of Nicosia, Omonia of Nicosia and Paphos FC secured their qualification to the next round of the UEFA competitions, while AEK of Larnaca did not make it to the next round, after the completion of the 2nd Qualifying Phase.

APOEL qualified from the 2nd Qualifying Round of the Champions League after the 1-1 with the Moldovan champion Petrocub as they beat them at GSP Stadium 1-0 in the first leg of the Round. The next opponent is the Slovakian champion Slovan. The first match will take place in Bratislava on August 7 (21:30) and the second leg in GSP on August 13 (20:00).

Omonia qualified to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Conference League with a second victory over Torpedo. The team of Nicosia, beat away the team from Georgia with 2-1. In the first match, Omonia achieved a victory at GSP with 3-1. In the next qualifying round, Omonia will face Hungarian Fehervar in Nicosia next Thursday, while the second leg will take place in Hungary on August 15.

Paphos FC celebrated yesterday its first victory in Europe which was combined with a historic qualification to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the Conference League. The Paphos team beat yesterday in extra time Zalgiris Vilnius with 3-0 at the Alphamega Stadium in Limassol and combined with their defeat in the first leg with 2-1, they qualified to the next phase.

Paphos will face the Bulgarian CSKA 1948 in the 3rd Round. The first match will take place in Bulgaria on August 8 and the second leg on the 15th of the month at the “Alphamega” stadium.

The only Cypriot team that did not make it to the next Qualifying round of Conference League Europe is AEK. On Thursday AEK was defeated with 2-0 in the second leg against Paksi at “AEK Arena” while it was defeated with 3-0 in the first match in Hungary.
