Greek diplomatic sources, commenting on recent threats against the Republic of Cyprus by the Turkish Foreign Minister, stressed that “threats against the sovereignty and existence of a member state of the European Union are absolutely unacceptable.”
The same sources note that Greece, as well as all the European Union member states, stand in solidarity with Cyprus.
“Greece does not accept any suggestions on how it conducts its policy and safeguards its national interests”, they said.
“During the crisis in the Middle East, Greece has maintained a principled stance, which is appreciated by all parties involved and for this reason it keeps all channels of communication open, without having to fall out with any country,” the same sources conclude.
