The 50th International Fair of Agriculture and Food Industry – Plum Fair was opened today by FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, FBiH Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić, Mayor of Gradačac Edis Dervišagić, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management of Tuzla Canton Fedahija Ahmetović and former President of Croatia Stjepan Mesić.
In his opening address, Nikšić expressed hope that the fair will bring Gradačac to the center of attention of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider public after a recent tragedy.
“This is an event where exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also the region, gather, and it is important to note that there are more than 300 exhibitors at the Fair and they are here because they have been doing well all these years,” said Nikšić.
FBiH Minister of Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić stated that food production in BiH and the world today is imperative and that the Government of the Federation headed by Prime Minister Nikšić is determined to support the agricultural and food sector in the Federation of BiH.
Mayor Dervišagić underlined that, considering all the circumstances, Gradačac is proud of the fair and that the citizens will certainly be good hosts because this event provides new opportunities for the development of agriculture every year.
Ensar Mešanović, Head of the Tourist Office at the Tourism Board of Gradačac, which organizes the event, emphasized that this is the 50th jubilee fair where about 300 exhibitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, France, Croatia, Serbia and Turkey are presented.
The Plum Fair will offer numerous contents this year, such as the 6th International Beekeeping Fair with international participation, as well as several professional and scientific gatherings. The goal of the fair, in addition to the presentation of agricultural and food items, is to continue the promotion of the economy and tourism potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The fair is open until August 26.
