Podgorica, (MINA) – The Montenegrin Armed Forces (VCG) will assist the police in border surveillance, prevention of illegal crossings and all other activities that contribute to maintaining public peace and order, said Defense Minister Dragan Krapovic.
The Ministry of Defense announced that Krapovic and the Chief of General Staff, Zoran Lazarevic, met with the Minister of the Interior, Danilo Saranovic, and Chief of Police, Zoran Brdjanin, in order to discuss models for engagement of VCG members in assisting the Police in protecting the state border.
“Krapovic pointed out that, in accordance with the decisions of the Defense and Security Council of 19 July, the Ministry of Defense will provide necessary support to police forces in border surveillance, prevention of illegal crossings and all other activities that contribute to maintaining public peace and order”, the press release reads.
Saranovic underscored the importance of close cooperation between the ministries of interior and defense.
According to him, the joint activities of the Police Administration and the VCG represent a key step towards achieving those goals.
