In addition to the increase in the number of beds in intensive care unit from 4 to 10 and in the ward from 14 to 17, in the Cardiac Surgery Clinic at the UCCK (University Clinical Center of Kosovo), 200 square meters of unused space have been discovered.
This is what the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, declared during the inauguration of the renovation of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic, who said that 750,000 euros were used from the budget of Kosovo.
“This time in the amount of 750 thousand euros. The number of beds has increased by 9. In intensive care unit from 4 to 10, while in the ward from 14 to 17. There are also filtration areas that prevent intra-hospital infections. And during the renovation with the economic operator, we managed to discover 200 square meters of unused space…. We have an apparatus that serves during operations that when the heart stops, it replaces both the heart and the lungs”, said Kurti.
Meanwhile, the director of the Cardiology Clinic at UCCK, Shpejtim Shurdhiqi, has added that since 2013, Cardiac Surgery Clinic has needed such a renovation.
“Cardiac Surgery Clinic since 2013, when it was opened, there has been a need to make an exact renovation like this… It will be an extremely great relief for the patients themselves, but of course as a community, in addition to the staff, which creates conditions and opportunities for this number of operations to increase at the same time, it always becomes more qualitative”, he added.
Likewise, the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, has emphasized that the only problem and challenge of the renovations in the UCCK is the placement of patients during the renovation of a certain ward.
“It will offer all those patients who need it in the Republic of Kosovo to receive the best, highest quality services, as they did not receive them here before and received them in other countries or in private clinics. During these months and during these years we have done an analysis, renovation and improvement of the infrastructure. The only challenge has been where to place the patients during this time when these renovations take place, and this continues to remain a challenge”, said Vitia.
The Italian ambassador Antonello De Riu and the director of ShSKUK (Shërbimi Spitalor dhe Klinik Universitar i Kosovës), Elvir Azizi, also took part in the ceremony.
