Podgorica, (MINA) – Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimovic and U.S. Ambassador to Montenegro Judy Rising Reinke signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of State, through which Montenegro joins an initiative aimed at combating information manipulation by foreign entities.

Ibrahimovic stated that modern security threats, such as hybrid activities including disinformation and information manipulation, pose a threat to Montenegro, as well as the region in general.

“Additional efforts must be invested to strengthen national capacities in this area. Cooperation with our allies in this regard is crucial”, Ibrahimovic emphasized.

Rising Reinke said that foreign disinformation poses a threat to U.S. national security, as well as to their partners and allies.

“Our foreign competitors and adversaries use disinformation to exploit divisions within our democracies, sowing doubt, cynicism, and instability”, said Rising Reinke.
