Skopje, 20 September 2024 (MIA) — The Tanec National Folk Song and Dance Ensemble is touring the Balkans to celebrate its 75th anniversary, with concerts scheduled in Montenegro, Slovenia, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the slogan ‘Tanec: The Macedonian Code for 75 years.”
Tanec will perform in Podgorica on Sept. 20, in Ljubljana on Sept. 22, in Zagreb on Spet. 24, and in Banja Luka on Sept. 27.
“Regional audiences have always known how to appreciate Tanec’s excellence and are eagerly awaiting our unique stage spectacles, which always bridge cultural differences and testify to the unifying power of the magnificent Macedonian musical folklore,” organizers said in a press release.
The concerts feature the traditional Macedonian dances “Teshkoto,” “Zhensko chamche” and “Kopachka” as well as the ensemble’s original choreographies “Zhetvarka,” “Mariovska tresenica,” “Maleshevka,” and “Radovishki sobor.” The ensemble will also perform numerous traditional Macedonian folk songs, including “Leno le Leno” and “If I Were Clear Water.”
Tanec was founded in March 1949 and has promoted Macedonian culture and tradition by performing more than 5,000 concerts worldwide.
