Skopje, 25 November 2024 (MIA) – To honour 30 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and North Macedonia, the Embassy of Japan, the Cinematheque and Bitola Culture Center will host the 17th Japanese Film Week.
The Embassy of Japan has announced that the Japanese Ambassador Otsuka Kazuya will open the 17th Japanese Film Week Monday evening at the Cinematheque.
The opening night will feature the screening of The Return of Daimajin, a cult Japanese film from the 1960s, which is part of a trilogy that has had a significant influence on many generations of filmmakers and creators of kaiju (monster) film stories.
“The program at the Cinematheque focuses on contemporary Japanese feature films, while the screenings in Bitola will showcase two modern Japanese animated films. Admission to all screenings is free,” the Embassy said in a press release.
