Podgorica, (MINA-BUSINESS) – It was noted during a meeting between the countries’ Ministers of Tourism, Simonida Kordic and Haim Katz, Montenegro had seen a significant increase in the number of tourists from Israel in recent years, primarily due to the launch of direct air routes.
Kordic and Katz met to discuss tourist exchange between the two countries.
“It was concluded that Montenegro had seen a significant rise in the number of Israeli tourists over the past years, largely attributable to the launch of direct air routes between the two countries,” the Ministry of Tourism stated in a press release.
Kordic highlighted the high level of development along Montenegro’s coast, which had long attracted the majority of foreign visitors.
She also emphasized the importance of further developing the tourism products in the continental and northern regions of the country, particularly by attracting foreign investments.
It was noted that there are already significant Israeli investments in Montenegro, including preliminary agreements for a major shopping centre, Big Fashion, in Niksic, and that there was room to further strengthen investment cooperation.
Speaking about the growing interest of Israeli tourists in Montenegro, Katz highlighted the importance of sustainability in tourism and stressed the need to promote Montenegro as an attractive destination for Israeli investors, who were actively investing in the hotel industry across Europe.
The two ministers agreed on the importance of strengthening cooperation not only bilaterally but also multilaterally, with particular focus on activities within UN Tourism – the world’s leading tourism organization.
