A team made up of 16 Romanian firefighters, with three forest fire extinguishing trucks and a command truck, operates in the town of Agia-Kiriaki in Greece, and another one made up of 15 firefighters operates in the Rafina area, using two firefighting trucks forest fires, a large-capacity truck and a rapid intervention truck.
“The actions of the Romanian firefighters to fight the fires registered in Greece continue and focus on patrolling and intervention missions in two sensitive areas in the Attica region,” informs the press office of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) in a statement sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
Military crews are prepared to quickly respond to any emergency situation to limit the spread of fires.
“If needed, the 30,000-liter cistern in the base of operations can provide additional water support for the efficient management of interventions,” the quoted source says.
The missions are carried out under the direct coordination of the Greek counterparts who, depending on the dynamics of the operative situation, request the support of the national module pre-positioned in Greece.
At the same time, the firefighters remaining in the base of operations coordinate the activities in the field, ensuring effective intervention in an area where the risk of fire remains high, according to the issued forecasts.
