Romania to produce cutting-edge semiconductors at IMT Bucharest (Research minister Ivan)

Bucharest – The Minister of Research, Innovation and Digitalization, Bogdan Ivan, announced on Friday the signing of a contract through which 130 million EUR of European money will be invested in Romania, in three production lines for cutting-edge semiconductors.

“We have signed the contract through which we are investing 130 million EUR of European money in three production lines for next-generation semiconductors – here in Romania. Semiconductors are the brains of every smart device, from the smart phone to the autonomous car,” the minister announced on Facebook.

He said that Romania will produce semiconductors at the National Institute for Research and Development in Microtechnologies – IMT Bucharest, alongside 5 universities and 21 innovative Romanian companies.

“I thank European Investment Minister Adrian Caciu for his support. Together, we are putting Romania on the map of global innovation,” the minister added.
