Restoration works begin on transformation of former Film Studios into National Center of Cinematography
TIRANA, April 11/ATA/ The work has got underway for restoration of the building of the former Film Studios and where the Ministry of Culture used to be for several years.
Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation Blendi Gonxhja appreciated this project as very important for the significant improvement of the infrastructure of one of the most important cultural institutions of the country.
The project is financed by the European Union and developed by UNOPS, as part of the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation -EU4Culture program.
The restoration envisages works on the facade and the interior of the building, preserving the existing masonry and repairing the damage, the restoration of the plaster and the decorative elements, the electrical installations, the improvement of the sewage systems, the external lighting system of the facade with projector and linear lighting.
While administration of the former Ministry of Culture, which will be located in the center of the city under the new name of the Ministry of Economy, Culture and Innovation, the old building will be transferred to the National Center of Cinematography, which is being reorganized and will soon start supporting cinematographic and audiovisual creativity with the aim of strengthening the system and aligning it with the best European practices of this specific and very important sector for the country’s culture and economy.
The National Institute of Cultural Heritage and the National Institute of Cultural Heritage Register will also be improved, in framework of reviewing of the project known as the Art Park, which consists of other buildings and functional infrastructure, courtyards, security and monitoring systems.
