Prosecution recommends two years in prison and a 9,000 euro fine for the Serb Dantic for attack on KFOR
A court hearing was held against Serb Marko Dantic, accused of attacking KFOR in Zvecan on May 29, 2023. The prosecution has recommended that Dantic be sentenced to two years in effective imprisonment and six months, which can be replaced by a nine thousand euro fine, for two criminal offenses.
At the court hearing, Judge Valon Kurtaj said that an agreement was reached between the prosecution and the defendant to plead guilty on two criminal offenses.
Kurtaj asks Mantic: Was this admission of guilt made of your own free will?
“Was this admission of guilt made of your own free will? Did someone by any chance make you any promises, or pressure, or inducement to convince you to admit guilt?
Mantic: No, no.
Judge: If you state that you accept the plea agreement, can you withdraw from the agreement? You are charged with two criminal offenses in the indictment, the criminal offense of assault on an official and participation in a criminal offense, are you aware of what you are accused of?
Mantic: Yes.
Judge: How do you plead with regard to these two criminal offenses?
Mantic: I plead the same as in the agreement,” they said.
Special Prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu said that with the defendant and in the presence of his lawyer, they reached an agreement to admit guilt.
For two criminal offenses, he recommended to the court two years in prison and six months in prison or a 9 thousand euro fine.
Kodraliu: We have recommended that he be sentenced to two years in prison
“The defendant has entered into this agreement of his own free will, and after sufficient consultation with his lawyer, we have reached an agreement to plead guilty to these two criminal offenses, and for the criminal offense, ‘assault on an official person committed in co-perpetration’, we have recommended that he be sentenced to two years in prison, where the time spent in detention from 15.11.2024 will also be counted towards this sentence. While for the other criminal offense of participating in a crowd, a criminal offense and hooliganism, a six-month prison sentence should be imposed with the possibility of substitution with a fine in the amount of 9 thousand euros”, said the special prosecutor.
Judge Valon Kurtaj said that this agreement is approved, as well as the defendant’s sentence.
The parties have agreed that the convicted person for the criminal offense of “participation in a crowd and hooliganism” will pay a fine of nine thousand euros.
